Event History
Secret Wars started in Shoreditch's Juno Bar in May 2006 with Jon
Burgerman's Black Convoy, an already established group of illustrators, going head to head in a doodle battle with new upstarts, design collective Monorex.
The event, which is a cross between a live exhibition, doodlejam and graffiti battle invites new and established artists to compete against each other. Each round consists of 2 artists, in a 90 minute battle.
Working straight on to a white wall, artists are limited to only black and white and are to create an image worthy of beating their opponent.
With the final of Secret Wars Series 1 set for the end of March 2007 and with a
one-off All Stars edition about to kick off in Birmingham, we are
bringing this unique and exciting event to Brighton's Riki Tik bar for a one off
exclusive.
Secret Wars Brighton (Tag Team Special)
With the format for this event being very similar to Secret Wars London, we
are looking at an exciting night with plenty of local interest and lots of
drawing fun to be had.
Monorex guest artists will battle Brighton's own Grafik Warfare Street Art
Collective.
The teams will consist of 4 artists and participation in the battle will
be based on a tag team, bringing a new twist to the current formula of the event.
The round will last for 2 hours with a half time slot.
There will be hip hop deejays for the entire event and an MC and Beatboxer will be entertaining the crowd at half time.
There will be a selection of prizes for the best artists and overall team.
2 Judges and the audience clap-o-meter will determine the overall winners
of this competition.
